This course he is teaching&#8211;marcoeconomic theory I&#8211;understandably has excess demand. With limited space in the classroom and absence of a market to trade seats students will, naturally, have to resolve the shortage through non-price competition; so I expect people coming in earlier next lecture. Akerlof is quite humorous&#8211;for example, he suggested students without a seat to <em>steal<\/em> chairs from nearby classrooms, but should try to do so <em>invisibly<\/em>.
